CHICAGO (WLS) -- A massive construction project kicks into high gear Monday in the Loop. The CTA station at State and Lake is closing so it can be demolished and rebuilt.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Starting Jan. 5, one of the busiest CTA stations will close until 2029. That's because the 130 year old State and Lake stop will be demolished.

Anyone getting off at the Lake Street CTA Red Line subway stop on Sunday might have noticed some new signage near the station's stairways to street level.

Have you ever had to transfer between the Ogilvie Transportation Center and the Green or Pink lines at Clinton. The walk down the escalator, out the door, up Clinton Street and up the stairs to the CTA provides plenty of time to ask the question: Why isn't there a direct, indoor connection between these two stations.
